Goal of subject

The course gives students the basic knowledge on radio electronics. Both system and circuit perspectives are presented in a context of a traditional radio and today's wireless communication systems. The particular objective of the course is that the students will learn operation principles of RF circuits (blocks) and also realize the existing fundamental limitations.

Learning outcomes of the subject

After the course the students should be able to:
- explain principles of radio transmission and reception;
- explain the existing physical and technical limitations of a RF system;
- describe operation principles of radio transmitters and receivers;
- calculate basic radio specifications in terms of power, gain, noise and bandwith ;
- analyze simple circuit implementations of RF amplifiers, modulators, mixers and oscillators, including the impedance matching and filtering effects.
