Goal of subject

The course introduces students to the fundamental problems, concepts, and approaches in the design and analysis of real-time (RT) systems. Specific problems and requirements of RT software and hardware design and RT approach to the process control are covered.

Learning outcomes of the subject

After attending this course students will have basic knowledge on RTS software and hardware functioning; will be able to design simple RTS; will know specific problems of time-critical software design; will have knowledge on working and selecting principles of different sensors and actuators.

Subject course description

The aim of the course is to describe nature of real-time systems (RTS), the principles of software and hardware design. RTS communication with "real world", different aspects of sensors, actuators and control systems; life cycle, properties and analyse of RTS are introduced. Development and limitations of RTS software and hardware are described. Concepts of concurrent software engineering, embedded systems engineering and distributed systems are covered.
Main part of the course uses practical approach to the material.
