Goal of subjectThe course gives to the student the primary knowledge about computer hardware and it is a prerequisite for other
special courses about computer hardware. Learning outcomes of the subjectAfter the course, the students are expected:
Knows the basic units of a personal computer (PC); Is capable to find information in the internet and assess the information relaiability; Knows how to assamble the PC; Is capable to select optimal components and accessuars (price-quality scale) for a computer. Knows the general outline of computer mashine code; Is capable to draw the simplest logial diagrams of computer components; Understands the principles of direct memory access (DMA) and interupt request (IRQ); Makes difference between the synchronous and asynchronous data transmission; Knows, how cache- and virtual memory works; Knows, how the central processing unit (CPU) works; Knows, how the pipeline works. Subject course descriptionIn the lectures, the basic principles of computer architecture and design will be given. The student learn also how to
choose the best in price-quality scale components for a computer and how to assamble a computer using those components. All assessments and distribution of additional learning material will be in Moodle learning environment. Related subjects
