Subject 'Operating Systems'

Lectures discuss underlying concepts of operating systems. The course is focused on understanding of these concepts together with developing practical skills in laboratories.

Students will learn operating systems concepts and theories and apply them to commercial operating systems.
After completion of this course, the student will be able to:
find solution to some operating system problem using manuals;
install several operating systems to same computer;
learn to use any operating systems relatively fast.

This course will cover the key concepts in modern operating systems. Specific topics include: process management, memory management, file systems, protection and security, viruses, regular expressions.
