Goal of subject

The goal of the course is to improve the students’ competence in spoken English and improve their listening skills extending and reinforcing their knowledge of general vocabulary and that of Aviation in general.

Learning outcomes of the subject

The student having passed the 1st part of course:
1.has increased their vocabulary of General English and that of aviation in general for active use both in spoken and written language use;
2.can understand spoken English with ease, different accents and topics included;
3.has acquired the level of spoken English that would enable to deliver a monologue or participate in a conversation with natural fluency and flow of speech, and convey the meanings and thoughts with much more confidence;
4.has reinforced their knowledge of English grammar.

The student having passed the 2nd part of course:
1. has acquired the basic vocabulary and terminology of aviation, and can use it actively both orally and in writing;
2. is able to read speciality literature in English and understands the content precisely;
3. can explain speciality related issues in correct and appropriate English;
4. is able to develop conversation on speciality related topics.

Subject course description

The primary goal of the 1st part of course is to identify weaknesses in students’ language skills and try to improve their ability level in all aspects of the English language and remedy recurring faults. The topics covered include both the ones needed in everyday communication and the ones of general Aviation.

The 2nd part of course focuses on acquiring speciality vocabulary and terminology. The topics covered are:
1. cockpit equipment and piloting devices; 2. types of wings, their parts; 3. parts of tail; 4. basic manouvres; 5. types of aircraft; 6. airport and airfield; 7. helicopters and their parts; 8. flying, gliding, aerobatics; 9. vocabulary related to space flights.
