Õppeaine 'Töö-ökonoomika ja tööturg'Nimi inglise keeles: Labour Economics and Labour Market
Õppeaine eesmärkTo enable students gain (a better) insight into labor market institution and functions alongside and in conjunction with the optimization (right-sizing) of production processes.
Being run in the workshop format, the students learn to implement the theoretical aspects studied into solving certain, practical case studies in order to get some overt experience. Õppeaine õpiväljundidBy the end of this course, the students will have acquired:
1. a clarified perception of correlations between labor (market) and capital, viewed from the perspective of corporate cost structure, with the aim of finding feasible opportunities for their optimization; 2. essential knowledge needed to assess the labor market situation, in conformity with the different phases of the economic cycle; 3. obtained an overview of the types of unemployment, and of labor market policies Sisu lühikirjeldusCOURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students taking this course are requested to attend and participate in all classes. Should they by any substantial reason be unable to attend a class, they shall contact the course instructor(s) to negotiate over a make-up assignment
GRADING PROCEDURE: This ia a pass/no-pass course. The students can earn their positive results by participating in classes and completing their individual assignments (assigned in the classes). Topics to be covered: Class of: Week 1: Induction phase & The actors in the labor market; Week 2: Production process; principles of cost optimization Week 3: Stages of production process Week 4: Description of a production process (1st half) Week 5: Description of a production process (2nd half) Week 6: Effective and non-effective movements in a job (working in groups) Week 7: Basics of negotiation (practical assignment) Week 8: Types of remuneration; basics of salary negotiation Week 9: Salary negotiations (working in groups) Week 10: Labor market policies and indices; dynamics of labor market in Estonia Week 11: Comparison of countries (based on their labor market index) Week 12: Comparison of countries (based on their labor market index) Week 13: Comparison of countries (based on their labor market index) Week 14: Tour of the ALeCoq Brewery in Tartu.
