The primary aim of the course is to improve the students’ competence in spoken English and develop their listening skills extending and reinforcing their knowledge of vocabulary relating to aviation. In addition, to improve their reading and writing skills and provide grammar practice.

The student:
• knows all the aviation related vocabulary of the topics covered and is able to use it in practice;
• can express him-/herself confidently in an interview situation and participate in discussions on aviation related topics;
• has improved his/her listening, reading and writing skills
• is able to make grammatically correct utterances

During the course the students cover the topics that meet the ICAO requirements on language proficiency for air traffic controllers. Mostly the course focuses on extending and reinforcing the speciality specific vocabulary via interactions, developing the fluency of speaking, improving pronunciation and listening comprehension. However, emphasis is also being placed on grammar practice and reading, writing comprehension.
